Thurston Manor Holiday Park near Innerwick to get a £4 million makeover

A holiday park on the East Lothian coast is set for a major upgrade. Thurston Manor Holiday Park, near Innerwick, is to be transformed into a flagship destination thanks to a £4 million investment by operator Verdant Parks, the largest single spend in the company's history.

Work is due to begin this autumn, with completion targeted for Easter next year. The redevelopment will include a new entertainment complex, leisure facilities and more holiday accommodation for families, groups and couples, as well as ownership opportunities.

Among the planned upgrades are an 18-metre swimming pool, a children's splash pool, a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, and improved gym facilities. Indoor entertainment will be expanded with a social hub and activities centre featuring a new soft play area, an upgraded arcade and interactive sports such as darts. A new sports bar and restaurant will be added, and the showbar will be transformed for live entertainment.

Outdoors, there will be a pirate-themed adventure golf course, giant chess, table tennis and a covered padel court for year-round play. Further features planned for 2027 include an alpine-style curling terrace, an outdoor seating area for dining and events, and an ice cream parlour.

Simon Lane, chief executive of Verdant Parks, said it was an exciting time for the company, its staff, owners and holidaymakers, and that the investment would help Thurston Manor become one of Scotland's most sought-after holiday destinations. He said it would also boost tourism and provide recreational spaces for the local community to use and enjoy.

Verdant Parks consulted customers throughout the planning process to make sure the redevelopment reflected what owners and holidaymakers wanted, and the company has promised sneak peeks as the work progresses. It operates award-winning holiday parks across Scotland and England.

With the beaches and countryside of East Lothian on the doorstep, the new facilities should make the park a year-round option for families looking for a break close to home.
