Charlie Miller Hairdressing celebrates 60 years of caring for Edinburgh's hair

Few Edinburgh businesses can say they have been part of six decades of weddings, first haircuts and fresh starts. Charlie Miller Hairdressing celebrated its 60th anniversary on 16 November, marking 60 years since Charlie and Janet Miller first set up a salon on Prestonfield Avenue.

From that single salon, the family business has grown into three salons in the city centre, along with a training academy at Holy Corner in Morningside. Generations of clients have sat in its chairs, and many stylists have built their whole careers with the company, starting as apprentices and working their way up to senior roles.

The business describes itself as a trusted part of its clients' stories, from life's big moments to everyday confidence boosts and reinventions. It says kindness, creativity and respect sit at the heart of the brand, and that its commitment to care has stayed constant as the company has grown.

To mark the milestone, the family thanked three groups in particular: loyal clients, whose support and friendship made the past 60 years possible; staff past and present, who have given their skill, warmth and passion to the craft; and suppliers and partners who have worked alongside the business.

Directors Jason and Josh Miller said their hearts were full as they celebrated, and that the journey had been shaped by the people around them. They said they were profoundly grateful to every client, every team member and every supplier who had supported them, adding that the milestone belonged to all of them.

The salon group also has a long-standing artist team, which it says has been working for the past 25 years, and it continues to share client stories celebrating long relationships with the people who come through its doors.

Looking ahead, the family says its mission remains the same: creating beautiful hair, nurturing talent and making everyone who walks through the door look and feel fantastic. For a business that has grown up alongside the city, it is a milestone worth toasting.
